Create site using site template

The current site API does not allow sites to be created using a site template. The requirement is to allow site creation in which an existing site template can be specified. The resulting site will be created based on the site template configuration.

    Matt Olney this feature has been implemented however it has not been released yet, it will be released in the next release of Collaborate due towards the end of this month.

    Is this still the case? I am interested in using the API to create new sites using site templates, hoping it is now possible.
