HighQ data as data source to PowerBI

27249

Hi all,

I've investigated in HighQ documents but there is no mention on integrating HighQ with PowerBI.

What I want to do is to connect PowerBI to HighQ data,  as far as I know this can be archived using:

- Connect PowerBI to HighQ Api

- Using HighQ Connector to somehow pull data from HighQ (to a database?) and serve PowerBi (I just know the high level, no additional information about this)

Please help on documents/solutions to integrate PowerBI and HighQ data.

Ha Nguyen Danh => The HighQ API is a REST API... Can you make http calls from PowerBI? I've never used it, but a cursory glance of the documentation would suggest so: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/web/web

When importing data from the Web, if you select the advanced section, you can specify the necessary headers to construct a valid request for our servers. Those docs also state that PowerBI can handle XML and JSON, so you should be good to go.

Not sure that PowerBI can handle everything required for seamless OAuth2 Authentication Code flow, but for adhoc queries it should be fine. Some discussion here:

  • Peter Simpson, calling REST API from PowerBI is one option that we can try to investigate, I am not sure if Authorization Code Flow could work with PowerBI.

How about the options using HighQ Connector?, I see it somewhere on the HighQ documentation, can you give more details?

Ha Nguyen Danh, the Appliance only has two supported connectors. SQL Databases and Microsoft Active Directory, I'm afraid.

  • Peter Simpson can you elaborate more on SQL Database connector? Can I pull HighQ data to my SQL database via this connector?

Ha Nguyen Danh No, you can only sync in the opposite direction (query your DB -> Push data into HighQ Collaborate). https://knowledge.highq.com/help/apps-plugins-and-connectors/highq-appliance-overview_1

If you are interested please contact your commercial account manager and they can put you in touch with Pro Services (who are the team responsible for setting up the Appliance product).

  • Hi, this is something that I'm interested in as well - as in pulling data from HighQ into Power BI. I've tried connecting Power Bi up to the HighQ API, however this isn't working for me at the minute, so I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has been able to do this and if so how they were able to do this.

  • Joshua Lowe what I've found so far (not yet tried)

Howerver, it is not specified to HighQ Rest Api.

I am also wonder if anyone has tried successfully with HighQ REST Api.
